Sri Satya Sai Baba - A Beatiful Human Being

"Do not get attached to worldly things and pursuits.  Be in the world, but do not let the world be in you" is one of those thought provoking quotes which can neither be manufactured by mere mortals nor can be understood by them in its absolute context. This was a quote by an adoring master of our times none other than Sri Satya Sai Baba who has given us as many as 108 pearls of wisdom to dwell on.
Baba as young boy
Born in an mediocre family on 1926 in a district called Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh (India), he became the source of light for many souls all over the world to take on their journey of self realisation. If sources are to be believed Baba was originally named Satyanarayana (if I am not wrong) who did not fit into the regular social norms even from his childhood. At the age of fourteen an incident occured that transformed him from a mere village boy to a source of adoration in no time. It is said that during that day, Baba was bit by a scorpian and as he was suffering in intolerable pain he started reciting hymns of vedas without any formal training at all in his lifetime so far. Immediately some realisation struck him and he claimed himself to be the reincarnation of Sri Shridi Sai Baba, another beautiful human being that walked this planet. Incidentally Shridi Sai Baba before his death (1918) mentioned that he would take birth after eight years in then Madras Presidency (now Andhra Pradesh). The same year (1926) was the birth year of Sri Satya Sai Baba. This mystery cannot be ever solved or understood by rationality. By then in very little time Baba became highly famous for his miracles of producing vibhuthi (divine ash), lingas etc from thin air. Already there were many followers who started considering him as a Godman. With time his follower's stream emerged into an ocean encompassing devotees from all over the world (130 coutries). This I should say was a spiritual revolution in its own ways. Later Baba turned out to be a remarkable social reformer and a genuine philanthropist who not only raised the standards of the small unknown village called Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh but also provided large needy people with sophisticated hospital facilities, hygenic food and even education of high standards for peanuts. My special adoration for his philanthropist face always grew with time and my sincere prayers are that those good works to be carried without any interruption even after this departure.
Sri Satya Sai Baba
Baba finally left his body on 24th April,2011. Businessman, politicians, hollywood-bollywood actor and actresses, sports persons were the guest in the huge stream of people that inundated Puttaparthi in last couple of days to pay last tribute to divine soul that showed the world how to lead the life in complete surrender to the lord. Prime Minster of India, Manmohan Singh, Sanchin Tendulkar along with his wife(doctor), Sunil Gavaska along with his wife, Sonia Gandhi etc were a few names of worth to be mentioned to give an idea that the devotees of Satya Sai were from all walks of life.

Though there were many unpleasant incidents (reported not proved though) throught his life as either being accused for his magical tricks of producing objects from thin air and cheating innocent people or cases of sexual harassment or the murder of five people right in his bedroom, his reputations never got tarnished with these so called unethical things. His devotees number grew even faster than the number of our countries' political parties. Whether to belive these or not I leave it upto the reader.

Satya Sai reincarnation of Shirdi Sai
Even if we assume those unacceptable incidents were true for sometime, still the extent of help that this Godman brought in reforming the small village and to those people overshadows those allegedly reported yet to be proved unethical stories. It is said that all he owned was an orange drape and a pair of chappals, such was his dignity and simplicity.

Baba has claimed that he would come back as Prema Sai. Should we all wait for him to come back again and show us the path of compassion and love all over once again? Why can't each one of us get into the shoes of Sri Satya Sai Baba and take an intiative to make an hunger free and a corruption free world? Never late than not. With his blessings let us strive to make this world a beautifull and a wonderfull place to live in.

"Your thoughts, words, and deeds will shape others and theirs will shape you" one more pearls of his wisdom.

My sincere condolences to his devotees all over the world and deeply indebted to extend my prayers of gratitude to this divine soul for showing us the way so far.

COSMIC PLAY

"Whatever happens, it happens for a reason , sometimes known and many times unknown" is famous old saying. An incident occurred yesterday with me to turn this saying into a fact.

It was a working day for me unlike all others who were enjoying  their Ram Navami (Indian festival) at home. Now dont think this is what I am whining about with help of this proverb. It was late in the afternoon I received a call from one of my good friends (Naresh) asking me to get him the keys from his room mate as he had forgotten on his way back. Generally his voice is quite strong in the phone but for the first time it appeared shaky and stumbling.  Negating my initial hiccups I made it to his home as quickly as possible only to see him lying on the floor of his building semiconscious. I was taken aback. Now I immediately called for an auto through my office colleague and friend (Punit). When he arrived we both had to literally carry him to the auto and started towards a famous hospital nearby. Punit accompanied Naresh in the auto while I followed them in my bike. All along the road he was vomiting and was not even able to sit steadily. Special thanks to Punit for patiently taking care of Naresh on the way.
Once we reached the hospital, treatment started right away. Then we were relieved once we handed him over to the doctor. After that we completed all the formalities and filling those long questionnaires was similar to the horrifying experience of filling the application form for any Central Government jobs. Thanks to our patience. The real surprise was waiting to burst when suddenly we saw one of our colleague (Abhishek)  who came towards us in the hospital. We did not inform anyone about this incident and there were thousand questions running in our minds as we greeted him with a puzzled smile. Then I made a casual enquiry of his acquittance about the matter. The reply from him totally swept me off my feet and for the first time I could realise myself as a dancer amongst millions, in this cosmic stage with the almighty as the choreographer.

Abishek gave us the phone of Naresh and said that he had got this phone in an auto which he boarded about half an hour ago on his way to home. Incidentally that auto turned out to be the same one on which we drove Naresh to the hospital. Somehow due to his inconvenience, Naresh could not sense that his mobile was lost. Even it evaded Punit's attention who was attending Naresh with total care. The cosmic play turned out even more interesting when Abhished said that he spotted this phone in the auto, he could not locate whose phone it was. While checking the contacts list in the phone he came across an acquaintance in the A-list of the phone itself and without any hesitation and rightly so, called the person. From that person he came to know that the phone belonged to Naresh but still puzzled where Naresh possibly could be now. Then he called Naresh's room mate to whom we left only a little hint of Naresh being admitted in the hospital. It is then he came to know about the hospital. As told by my friend even the auto driver was not able to tell him the name of the hospital but could tell him the location by which he could locate us. Special thanks to Abhishek for his concern.

The whole play of things appeared to be well knitted in the hands of an expert who can do miracles on daily basis. Totally mesmerized did I stand there without knowing whether to believe what had happened or to probe it rationally. Though with our logical bent of mind we can ignore it as just a coincidence, we should ask ourselves whether everything that is happening in our lives and those of others are coincidences of this type ? If answer is on the affirmative then we should shamefully accept that we are all floating on the ocean of life even though all are aware that pearls of happiness and joy are found in depths. So to reach to depth we need courage or skill? I think both in right proportions at appropriate times. Go dive in and get those pearls of eternal bliss.

Now while I scripting this text Naresh is fine and has returned back to his normal life.

God Bless !

Sparrows in Sorrows

Many beautiful  things around us are slowly disappearing without our knowledge. But due the the love affair the man has with the money, he hardly notices these mesmerising architecture of the creator around him thereby entirely making his stay on this Earth a forgettable and  painful one.

It all happened when a , few days back  I was updating  myself  with the daily affairs running through the newspaper, an heartening article did catch  my attention. Until then I did not realise how mean and worthless life are we human beings living on this uniquely gifted planet from the almighty. We hardly care about our fellow creatures who have come here to share space with us on the same Earth.

The article was about the reducing number of the Sparrow population which is on the verge of extinction. These sparrows which were once everywhere during my childhood can hardly be seen anymore today. And the ugliest thing with me was until  I read this article I could hardly realise  about  the demise of my fellow beings  which were disappearing from the scene, thanks to my selfish attitude. By reading that article, a  flood of memories inundated me  like how I used to feed these small beautiful birds every morning when I was a child and how I used to play with them eveyday. Their very presence brings harmony and peace to the space  where they are. Their quick reflexes are always a thing of admiration and beauty. They were both beautiful and intellingent birds.

The reason suggested in the article for their population being pushed to brink of extinction was the changes in the lifestyle of the people. These small birds feed on the tiny worms and insects, but today we use all kinds of sprays and insecticides in our homes , gardens and fields that we not only washed out  more than half of the insect population  but along with them the dependent sparrows also. So is our "Modernization and Globalization". Shame on ourselves. Once again, we  are continuously washin out a species  that was sent along with us to live on this planet, . The  microwaves from the mobile towers is sited as other important reason for their dissapearance. With time these mobile towers will be increasing amny folds thereby demolishing the entire sparrow kingdom.

In the name of  growth and developement we are ignorantly and ruthlesslessly killing every other living creatures on this planet. Growth at the  cost of other fellow beings cannot be considered to be growth. It is high time  we become conscious about creatures around us and become sensible for their unasked needs also. As the most evolved animal on this planet, human beings owes this to his fellow beings.
